Partnership with Isovalent boosts our technology offering

The growing popularity of cloud-native development has led to larger cloud-native environments in recent years. However, the management and security of these enterprise environments present new challenges. Solutions such as Isovalent Cilium for Enterprise provide the answer. With our partnership with Isovalent, we can better meet the additional needs of our customers and continue to offer the added value they’ve come to expect from us.

The use of containers such as Kubernetes is still very much on the rise, and it doesn’t look like that’s going to change any time soon. On the contrary, the future looks increasingly cloud-native.

The enterprise version of Cilium

This striking, unstoppable trend has also seen the arrival of new tools on the market. The open source project Cilium is, in a sense, such a tool. It specifically provides networking, security, and observability for cloud-native environments such as Kubernetes clusters and other container-orchestration platforms.

Isovalent Cilium for Enterprise is essentially the enterprise open source version of Cilium, meaning you get the support and all the additional benefits that come with such an offering. Isovalent is developed and supported by the company of the same name, which is also responsible for the development and support of the Cilium open source project.

Multiple use cases

Which companies benefit most from using Isovalent Cilium for Enterprise? Initially, companies that use Kubernetes and OpenShift, Red Hat’s hybrid cloud application platform, which is also powered by Kubernetes. Of course, they also need a tool that provides the necessary networking, security, and observability for their Kubernetes clusters. And Isovalent is perfect for this, especially in enterprise environments.

Companies that do use Red Hat OpenShift, and more specifically the Premium Plus edition, can rely on the improved, superior functionality of Service Mesh. This monitoring and management tool provides a uniform way to connect, manage, and observe microservices-based applications. OpenShift Service Mesh also provides behavioral insight into — and control of — the networked microservices in your service mesh.

Still, for some companies, this tool alone might not meet all their needs. Again, this applies to enterprise environments in particular. If you’re working on a large scale, Isovalent Cilium for Enterprise gives you that extra bit of added value. This also applies to companies that are very focused on security. And for whom the observability of OpenShift Premium Plus might not be enough. They can compensate for this by also running Isovalent. To be clear, this doesn’t mean that Red Hat’s tools aren’t useful. But rather that Isovalent offers added value so that the insights you obtain are even better than with the standard tools.

Welcome to our workshop!

To respond even better to the specific needs of our customers, we recently entered into a partnership with Isovalent. Initially, we’ll help to market Isovalent as a suitable solution or alternative for customers who need just that little bit more. In addition, we’re working toward certification that will allow us to act as a true service or implementation partner in the future.

One of our first joint initiatives is a free half-day instructor-led workshop. It will take place on Tuesday, September 5, from 14:00 to 17:15 at our offices – Gaston Geenslaan 14 B1, Leuven.
